Alameda Point Studios is opening its doors to the
public for the first time in 16 years. Housed in a building
that once served as aircraft maintenance and testing facility,
this lively community with more than 37 individual
artists, creators, craftspeople, and some fascinating
businesses will finally show their stuff. Peruse the
woodshops with its many makers,
a piano restoration company,
a stone sculptor’s studio, a print shop, and many more.
This is a new phase for the old Naval Air Base as more
and more of the buildings are handed over to the city
of Alameda and they look to bring new energy to this
often forgotten and beautiful part of the island.
“The abundant creativity at Alameda Point Studios is a
critical piece of the developing story of the Naval
Base,” says founder Dean Santner.
The machines will be shut down for the weekend of
October 5th and 6th from 11am to 5pm and the residing
businesses, artists and craftspeople will be there
displaying art and furniture and explaining their
work. Come, take a tour, talk with the artists and
buy unique custom made pieces. There will be
artisanal food trucks on site, so while you grab a
bite you can take in the breathtaking view of the
bay and the San Francisco skyline.
Great way to discover a new favorite place on the bay!
