The beautiful and historic live/work Cotton Mill Studios, located in the Jingletown Arts District in East Oakland, California, will be exhibiting the artwork of resident artists and guest artists for its sixth F3 (Third Fridays) exhibition, with its “Sideshow” theme. Exhibiting artwork consists of various media including painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry, fashion, mixed media, and furniture. In addition, there will be a Design Bazaar and wonderful various performance venues!
“Sideshow” will feature carnival acts, live painting, and more. Stand-up comedian and storyteller Dhaya Lakshminarayanan will perform, in addition to the A.V.I.D. (Attentive Vulnerability In Dance) dancers.
Cotton Mill Studios’ Catherine Rose, owner of Slinky Productions, the Bay Area’s first exotic pole/lap dance instruction company, will give a pole dance demo/performance for guests 18 and over.
The Cotton Mill Theater will be presenting “A night of action!” featuring “Fallen Angels,” an improvised Charlie’s Angels episode, and “The Five Deadly Improvisers,” an improvised Kung Fu movie.
The fourth floor Gallery will exhibit the artwork of resident and guest artists.
The new Champagne Gallery will be a destination as well, as additional artwork and artists’ information will be available and bubbly will be served!
Exhibiting Cotton Mill Studios’ resident artists include Candy Stoner (painting), Jacob Cohen (industrial design), Jeff Ritter (various artwork), Meredith Snow (painting), Joshua LaCunha (photography), Peter Delucchi (painting), RW Hawkins Photography (black and white, silver gelatin prints), Thomas Lindahl Robinson (photography), Monika Piadad Harris & Victor Knai (in collaboration with water and pigments), Greg Lammers (painting), and Susan Tuttle (photography). There will also be open studios throughout the building.
Exhibiting guest artists include Ellie Barrett Wilder (oil and digital mixed media), Julie Bilyeu (dry pastels), Calvin Wong (painting), and Shayna Yasuhara (pen and ink).
The Design Bazaar, located on the second floor, will showcase 25 vendors exhibiting fabulous handcrafted items of fine art to handmade clothing and collectibles.
FLOAT Gallery, located in the Cotton Mill building, will be open from 6 to 9 p.m., with the exhibit “Hot Chicks and Homeless Peeps” featuring the artwork of Ange McLane. www.thefloatcenter.com
Food trucks FiveTen Burger and Fist of Flour Pizza will be onsite for delectable food which will be available for purchase.
Tiki Bar, Cotton Mill Studios’ own mobile bar, will be providing drinks for suggested donations.
Free BART shuttle transportation will be provided to and from the Fruitvale BART Station to the Cotton Mill from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Look for the F3 logo on three SUVs. Please use public transportation or park at the station, since parking on Calcot Place will be for event staff only.
