About the artist
Marsha Balian is a mixed media artist who admits great difficulty following
instructions, so by necessity is self-taught and often invents her own techniques.
Marsha's work often incorporates found objects including what might be found on
the floor of her studio. Since invention doesn't require strict adherence to rules,
her art avoids what might be literal and attempts to engage the imagination of the
view. Humor is never far behind.
Her work has been shown throughout the Bay Area and in many parts of the
country. In 2012 she won "Best of Oakland" in "Intersection: World Culture in
the East Bay, Art.com and an honorable mention in the National Collage Society
Annual Exhibit 2011.
